Horror in the family: a father raped his own daughter in the Mykolaiv region
Violence in one's own home: the rapist faces up to 10 years in prison
In Mykolaiv region law enforcement detained a 40-year-old resident of the Mostivska community of Voznesensk district, who is suspected of raping his own 20-year-old daughter. This was reported on 30 April 2026 by the Mykolaiv police and the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the investigation, on the evening of 28 April 2026 a 39-year-old woman contacted Station No.2 of the Voznesensk District Police Department. She reported that her husband had committed violent acts against their daughter. Investigators and operatives arrived at the scene. Law enforcement established that the same evening at their shared residence the suspect used physical force against the daughter and raped her. Physical evidence was seized from the crime scene. The man was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Under the procedural supervision of the Voznesensk District Prosecutor’s Office he was notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 152 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — “Rape committed against a person with whom the suspect is in a family relationship”. The article’s sanction provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of 5 to 10 years.
Investigators have appointed the necessary expert examinations. In the near future the court will decide on a preventive measure for the suspect; pre-trial detention without the right to post bail is being considered. The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Investigative Unit of Police Station No.2 of the Voznesensk District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Mykolaiv Oblast.
