The company does not disclose how many drones it has destroyed and is also developing its own firefighting capabilities to tackle blazes after Russian attacks.
Ukrainian company Nova Poshta has launched a private air defense project and, according to its co-owner, has already confirmed cases of Russian Shahed attack drones being shot down. The news was shared by Viacheslav Klymov, co-owner of the Nova group of companies, at the 12th Kyiv International Economic Forum, held in Kyiv on October 26, 2026. The information was published on October 27 by Interfax-Ukraine.
According to Viacheslav Klymov, the company is among the few Ukrainian businesses to have launched such a project. However, he declined to disclose the exact number of Russian drones destroyed.
“We are one of the few companies to have launched this project. I don’t want to disclose the figures, but we have shot down Shaheds,” Klymov said at the 12th Kyiv International Economic Forum (KIEF), “People. Business. Economy. What’s Next?” in Kyiv on Monday.
Businesses are taking on functions previously performed by the state
Viacheslav Klymov stressed that private air defense projects need to continue developing during the full-scale war.
In his view, Ukrainian businesses are already capable of independently carrying out some tasks that, before Russia’s full-scale invasion, were considered the exclusive responsibility of the state. Protecting businesses from air attacks has become one such area.
In-house fire services instead of waiting for emergency responders
Another area being developed by large businesses is the creation of their own firefighting services.
The co-founder of Nova Poshta said that the company’s employees are already putting out a significant proportion of the fires that break out at its facilities as a result of Russian attacks. They do so without waiting for units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) to arrive.
According to Viacheslav Klymov, large Ukrainian companies are also considering purchasing fire engines in European countries to establish their own emergency response services.
“Large businesses are now looking for fire engines in Europe so they can create their own services. This is our property. What’s the problem? Who can stop me from putting out a fire myself on my own premises?” Klymov said.
Billions in revenue and tens of thousands of branches and parcel lockers
Nova Poshta’s main business remains express delivery of documents, parcels, and palletized oversized cargo. The company is a leading player in Ukraine’s express delivery market.
The company’s ultimate beneficial owners are Volodymyr Popereshniuk and Viacheslav Klymov.
In the first half of 2026, the company’s financial performance improved compared with the same period in 2025:
Consolidated net profit rose by 24.3% to UAH 2 billion 195 million.
Revenue increased by 31.8% to UAH 39 billion 127 million.
As of July 13, 2026, Nova Poshta’s network covered 54,700 service points across Ukraine. The company had 16,800 branches and 37,900 parcel lockers.
Thus, alongside expanding its logistics network, the company is protecting its infrastructure from Russian air attacks and building its own capacity to deal with their consequences.
