A 38-year-old mother has been remanded in custody over child pornography on the darknet
Law enforcement documented at least two incidents in 2023; the girl is now six years old and is in her grandmother's care
In the Zhytomyr region, law enforcement officers have charged a 38-year-old mother whom investigators believe was involved in the production and distribution of pornographic materials featuring her 3-year-old daughter; the procedural decision was made on April 24.
According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, the suspect began distributing the prohibited content depicting the child in 2023, and investigators documented at least 2 such incidents.
The agency specifies that while the child was sleeping at night the woman, taking advantage of her vulnerable state, committed indecent sexual acts against her without penetration, after which she recorded this on video for further distribution.
The finished video materials the suspect published on adult platforms, and later they ended up on closed internet sites in the DarkNet segment.
At the time of the recorded acts the child was 3–4 years old. She is now 6, and is under the care of her grandmother.
The woman’s actions have been classified under part 4 of Article 153 and part 4 of Article 301-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Under the combined articles she faces up to 15 years of imprisonment.
At the request of the juvenile prosecutor, the court imposed a preventive measure on the suspect in the form of detention with bail set at 1 million hryvnias.
