Medics of "Skely" tortured and detained their comrades: two arrested, they face up to 10 years in prison
The victims with traumatic brain injuries were hospitalized again
In Kirovohrad Oblast, two servicemen of the medical company of the assault regiment “Skelya” were detained; they are suspected of beating, abusing and unlawfully detaining two fellow servicemen. The incidents occurred in May, the State Bureau of Investigations and the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Defense of the Southern Region reported.
According to DBR, after being discharged from the hospital the two servicemen were brought to the medical company, where the suspects decided to “punish” them for disciplinary offenses by beating them, holding them in an outbuilding and continuing the humiliation.
The victims were later hospitalized with traumatic brain injuries and other bodily injuries.
The suspects have been charged with torture and violation of the statutory rules of relations between servicemen — part 2 of Art. 127 and part 3 of Art. 406 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provide for punishment of up to 10 years in prison; investigators are simultaneously checking information about other possible cases of cruel treatment within the unit.
As clarified by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Defense of the Southern Region, the suspects are a 30-year-old driver-electrician and a 28-year-old sanitary instructor of the medical company of the assault regiment “Skelya”.
“The suspects inflicted numerous blows to the victims’ heads, torsos and limbs, demonstrating their physical superiority and strength…,” the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Defense of the Southern Region emphasized.
