The search for the tigress in Mykolaiv has been suspended: people are exhausted after a day of searching
Search efforts are set to resume in the morning, while lights will be left on overnight
Today, October 25, the search for a young tigress that escaped from the zoo was temporarily suspended in Mykolaiv. The search is expected to resume the next morning.
Mykolaiv Zoo Director Volodymyr Topchii told Suspilne that people were tired after a full day of work, so they decided to suspend the search.
However, the lights on the zoo grounds will remain on overnight. If the cub leaves its hiding place, security will alert staff, who will retrieve it.
The tigress is 4.5 months old. She escaped from the zoo on Saturday night, squeezing through the bars of her enclosure.
At this age, a tiger is already a predator and can pose a danger to people, causing injuries with its teeth and claws. It may lunge or bite if frightened, or if someone tries to approach or catch it.
Children are especially vulnerable. Although the cub is much smaller than an adult tiger, it cannot be considered safe around people.
