In Mykolaiv, the angiography department has performed more than 4,500 coronary interventions over five years

In Mykolaiv the Department of Angiography and Endovascular Interventions of City Hospital №1 has performed more than 4,500 coronary interventions over 5 years of operation. It provides emergency and planned care around the clock to patients with cardiovascular diseases.

The department was opened 5 years ago. Its establishment was an important step in the development of cardiological care in Mykolaiv, allowing the quality and accessibility of treatment for patients with acute myocardial infarction to be improved.

After the department opened, the city began performing coronary angiography and coronary artery stenting for patients with acute myocardial infarction for the first time.

In 2021 a modern angiograph was purchased for the department, major renovation works were carried out, and qualified interventional cardiologists were recruited.

Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, despite constant shelling and danger, the department staff did not stop working. Medical personnel performed emergency coronary interventions around the clock and saved residents’ lives.

Over 5 years the department performed more than 4,500 coronary interventions.

Currently the Department of Angiography and Endovascular Interventions provides emergency and planned care around the clock to patients with cardiovascular diseases.

The modern angiograph makes it possible to examine the vessels of virtually all organs and systems, including the brain, upper and lower limbs, kidneys, intestines, and others.

Patients who require urgent intervention receive medical care free of charge under the Medical Guarantees Program.
