Four “Iskanders” at the bridge? What “Mykolaiv Vanyok” said after the attack on Kyiv
“No sense and no mercy”: well-known Mykolaiv blogger comments on another attack on the capital
In the evening of October 26 and overnight into October 27, 2026, Russian forces once again attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles. One person was killed and another 14 residents of the capital were injured. The Southern Bridge and the metro infrastructure located on it were also damaged. Mayor Vitalii Klitschko reported the consequences of the attacks.
On October 27, the “Mykolaivskyi Vaniok” Telegram channel commented on the situation. The author of the post claims that Russian forces attacked the capital with various types of missiles, and that potential targets included banking institutions, an industrial zone, gas stations, and businesses. According to the author, some missiles did not reach their intended targets. The post also states that late in the evening Russian forces used S-400 missiles, and overnight the Southern Bridge was attacked with four Iskander-M missiles.
The channel’s author links the continuation of the strikes to Russia’s desire to increase pressure on the residents of Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast, particularly by threatening to damage energy infrastructure, bridges, and the city’s infrastructure. In the author’s view, the goal of these attacks is to leave residents without electricity and heat and provoke discontent with the Ukrainian authorities.
Separately, “Mykolaivskyi Vaniok” raised the issue of producing missiles for Patriot systems. The author claims that Ukraine was not granted a license to manufacture them because American partners feared that Ukrainian production could be scaled up, reducing other countries’ dependence on the United States. No independent confirmation of this specific explanation for the refusal was provided in the post.
At present, the officially confirmed consequences of the attack include the death of one person, injuries to 14 Kyiv residents, and damage to the Southern Bridge and its metro infrastructure. The circumstances of the strikes and the extent of the damage are being clarified. Russian strikes once again hit civilian sites and the capital’s transport infrastructure.
