A Russian attack on a civilian electric train in Dnipro claimed the lives of 13 people. The strike occurred this afternoon, Thursday, October 29. At least five people were injured and are receiving the necessary medical care. The death and injury toll was reported by Oleksandr Hanzha, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration.

Ukrzaliznytsia clarified the circumstances of the attack: Russian forces struck Dnipro railway station with a jet-powered drone. The drone hit the platform next to a train running on the Dnipro–Zaporizhzhia route.

People were still on the platform, even though an elevated threat level had already been announced.

The city’s mayor also confirmed the tragedy and stressed that the Russian attack had specifically targeted a civilian electric train. He strongly criticized the wording used to obscure the nature of the strike:

“Colleagues, I beg you, stop writing idiotic nonsense about ‘damage to infrastructure facilities’ and ‘we’re clarifying the details.’ This is a genocidal war. Have the courage to call things by their proper names,” said Dnipro Mayor Borys Filatov.

The consequences of the attack are still being assessed.
