Aftermath of 'Shahed' strike on the Mykolaiv–Kherson train: injuries reported
Passengers and the railway crew survived the attack
During the day on 5 September, Russian forces attacked the passenger train “Mykolaiv–Kherson” in Chornobaivka, Kherson Oblast with Shahed strike drones. The drones struck several times at short intervals.
At least two people were injured as a result of the attack: a 55-year-old railway worker and an 18-year-old passenger. The worker was taken to hospital in moderate condition. Medical staff found she had a blast injury, an arm wound and a closed traumatic brain injury.
Two injured people, 21 passengers and the train crew were evacuated from the strike site. Two locomotives were also damaged. Photographs of the aftermath were published by the National Police of Ukraine.
According to the police, Russian forces continue to strike the civilian population of Kherson Oblast with aircraft, artillery and drones. Over the past day, two civilians were killed in the region and another 19 people were wounded. Among the wounded were a nurse and two children aged 11 and 12.
In the morning Russian forces struck Antonivka with a guided aerial bomb. The building and equipment of a critical infrastructure facility were damaged.
In Molodizhne the occupiers attacked a public transport stop with an FPV drone. Three women were injured:
- two local women, aged 56 and 60, were diagnosed by medics with blast injuries and shrapnel wounds to the shoulders;
- a 56-year-old nurse who was on her way to work suffered a blast injury and shrapnel wounds to her arms and legs.
The police also reminded that on 5 September and on the morning of 6 September Russian forces attacked Mykolaiv Oblast with Shahed strike drones. Transport and civilian infrastructure were hit.
