Kinburn Spit has not yet been liberated: The Defense Forces explained what is actually happening
The occupiers are not leaving their positions; they are merely conducting a rotation
Over the past few days, information has been actively circulated online about the alleged withdrawal of Russian troops from the Kinburn Spit. However, the Southern Defense Forces say that it is currently premature to draw such conclusions.
This, in a comment to RBC-Ukraine, was reported by the spokesman of the Southern Defense Forces Vladyslav Voloshyn.
According to him, land access to the Kinburn Spit is provided by two roads — one paved, the other unpaved, the use of which becomes significantly more difficult under unfavorable weather conditions.
Ukrainian defenders continue to work on establishing fire control over the logistical routes in the temporarily occupied part of the Kherson region, including the routes leading to the Kinburn Spit. Because of this, the movement of the enemy’s military equipment has become more difficult.
Vladyslav Voloshyn explained that for now the Russian troops are not leaving their positions, but are conducting a routine rotation of units.
“Enemy units are indeed trying to hide from our drone strikes, to some extent conceal their positions. But I would not rush to say that the enemy is leaving the spit – there are currently rotational measures taking place by the enemy units that are stationed there and are carrying out their tasks”
According to the spokesman, the 78th Separate Motor Rifle Regiment of the Russian 58th Army is arriving on the Kinburn Spit, which is to replace the 137th Airborne Regiment of the 106th Airborne Division.
Vladyslav Voloshyn also emphasized that the Russian troops are not showing any intentions of leaving their occupied positions.
“Of course, it would be very good if they left. But they are not even going to leave. Therefore, effort will have to be made to destroy them and drive them out of the Kinburn Spit”.
Recall, the day before the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), citing the partisan movement ATESH, reported the alleged withdrawal of Russian troops from the northern and western parts of the Kinburn Spit after their logistics became complicated. At the same time, there was no official confirmation of this information from Ukrainian forces.
