In Mykolaiv, a man fired a traumatic pistol right beside people

Late in the evening on September 6, near an entertainment venue on Soborna Street in Mykolaiv, a man fired a shot toward a street where people were present. Witnesses reported this to Police Station No.1 of the Mykolaiv District Police Department.

Law enforcement established that a 43-year-old local resident was involved in the incident. According to the investigation, in the presence of a large number of people he displayed a traumatic pistol and then fired toward the street. The man’s firearm storage permit was expired. Fortunately, no one was harmed.

At the scene, police seized a cartridge casing and the traumatic pistol from which, according to the investigation, the shot was fired.

Investigators, under the procedural guidance of the District Prosecutor’s Office of the city of Mykolaiv, informed the suspect of suspicion under part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — hooliganism committed using a weapon.

Under this article, the man faces up to 7 years in prison. The court is to decide a preventive measure for him in the near future. The pretrial investigation continues.
