Traffic accidents at a crosswalk and on the roadside: two pedestrians injured in Mykolaiv in one day
Police are looking for witnesses
In Mykolaiv, the police are establishing the circumstances of two separate road traffic accidents in which pedestrians were injured. Both collisions occurred on June 9, 2026.
The first crash occurred at approximately 06:20 at the intersection of Central Avenue and 9th Slobidska St.. According to police, a 31-year-old driver of an Opel Combo struck a 45-year-old female pedestrian.
The woman was crossing the carriageway at an unregulated pedestrian crossing. The victim was hospitalized with bodily injuries. Her condition is currently assessed as severe.
Investigators have preliminarily classified this incident under Part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — violation of traffic safety rules or vehicle operation by persons driving vehicles.
The article’s sanction provides for punishment of up to three years restriction of liberty with disqualification from the right to drive vehicles.
Another crash occurred during the day, at approximately 12:15, near building 101 on Troitska St.. According to law enforcement, a 54-year-old driver of a Daewoo Lanos struck a 60-year-old pedestrian.
According to police, the man was crossing the carriageway outside a pedestrian crossing at an unmarked location. As a result of the crash he was taken to a medical facility with bodily injuries.
Investigators qualified this incident under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — violation of traffic safety rules or vehicle operation that caused grievous bodily harm to the victim.
The article provides for up to eight years imprisonment.
Police are currently clarifying all the circumstances of both collisions.
