Ukraine has found a cheap way to shoot down Russian "Banderol" missiles
The technology is already being used against such targets
In Ukraine, a means to destroy Russian rocket-drones S8000 “Banderol” has been developed. The technology is already being used against such targets, and the released video shows the destruction of at least four rockets.
This was stated by the press service of the state defense cluster Brave1. The development was created by one of its participants, but the operating principle and technical characteristics of the device have not yet been disclosed.
The cluster noted that the cost of destroying a Russian rocket is significantly lower than the price of the rocket-drone itself. In addition, there are already several developments capable of countering Russian cheap rockets.
S8000 “Banderol” is produced by the Russian joint-stock company “Kronstadt”. The same company also manufactures the reconnaissance-strike unmanned aerial vehicles “Orion”.
According to open data, the maximum speed of the “Banderol” is 620–650 km/h, and its cruising speed is 520–560 km/h. The rocket has a high-explosive fragmentation warhead weighing 114.3 kg, of which 49.5 kg is explosive material.
Russia has recently been using rocket drones and “Banderol” munitions more actively.
