Russian units are transferring special forces from Sevastopol toward the direction of the Kinburn and Tendriv spits, fearing their possible liberation by Ukrainian forces; this was reported to Ukrinform in a comment by the spokesman of the Southern Defense Forces, Colonel Vladyslav Voloshyn.

«— The Russians are very afraid that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will attempt to liberate the Kinburn Spit and Tendra. Therefore they keep one of their most combat-capable special forces units there. Many of them are residents of temporarily occupied Crimea, and there are even some of our former servicemen among them», — said the spokesman of the Southern Defense Forces, Colonel Vladyslav Voloshyn.

«— They have now rotated this unit. It is fairly well armed, has several modern boats, several powerful pickups, and is equipped with electronic warfare (EW) and radio-electronic reconnaissance systems, as well as crews for reconnaissance and strike unmanned aerial vehicles. The unit’s main task is to conduct special aerial reconnaissance in the area of the Kinburn Spit, to observe the waters of the Dnipro estuary, the Dnipro River delta and Maysky Island. It also patrols the coastline and organises anti-landing measures», — told the spokesman of the Southern Defense Forces, Colonel Vladyslav Voloshyn.

Earlier, the head of the Mykolaiv OVA, Vitaliy Kim, said that the leader of the parliamentary faction «Servant of the People», David Arakhamia, involved in negotiations on a peaceful settlement, will advocate for the de-occupation of the Kinburn Spit, and also stressed that its liberation is a matter of time, «and not a very long one»; this assessment was also confirmed by the Southern Defense Forces.

The territory of the Kinburn Spit has remained occupied by Russian troops since 20222, and from there for over a year the enemy has been shelling the Ochakiv and Kutsurub communities of the Mykolaiv region.
