Living witnesses of hell: veterans and former concentration camp prisoners were visited in the Korabelnyi District
They survived the most terrifying chapters of World War II
Ahead of the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism in the Second World War 1939-1945, representatives of the Korabelna District Council of Veterans and the administration of the Korabelnyi District of the Mykolaiv City Council visited veterans of the Second World War and former prisoners of Nazi concentration camps.
During the meetings they were shown deep respect and thanked for their courage, endurance and indomitable spirit. For people who went through war, occupation, concentration camps and post-war trials, such attention is not only a sign of respect but also a reminder: their pain, experience and deeds are not forgotten.
This date has special significance for Ukraine even today, when our state once again confronts an aggressor and defends the right to live freely on its own land. The memory of the crimes of Nazism, of the millions who died and of those who survived, remains an important part of national dignity and of our responsibility to future generations.
As a reminder, earlier we wrote:
- From the Second World War to the present war: Mykolaiv recalled the cost of the struggle for freedom
- Mykolaiv Zoo for the Day of Remembrance and Victory: concert and free admission for senior citizens
- Flowers, honor and the flame of memory: Mykolaiv remembers heroes of all generations
- In the Korabelnyi district of Mykolaiv, veterans honored the heroes of the Second World War
- “We must remember”… A rally was held in the Korabelnyi district for the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation
