In Mykolaiv, after a drinking party a man was fatally injured with a hoe: he died from multiple blows
The hoe was seized and sent for examination
7 August around 08:00 the 102 emergency line received information about the body of a man found in the yard of a garden house in Mykolaiv.
Arriving at the scene were police officers of the investigative-operational group of Police Department No. 1, operatives of the Mykolaiv District Police Department, officers of the Criminal Investigation Department of the regional police headquarters, the forensic laboratory and medical personnel.
During the examination of the body of the 35-year-old man, specialists found numerous injuries. According to the forensic medical examination, the victim’s death resulted from multiple injuries to the head and torso.
Law enforcement officers, with support from analysts of the Criminal Analysis Department of the regional police headquarters, established that a dispute arose between the men during a joint drinking of alcoholic beverages. According to the investigation, a 52-year-old acquaintance of the victim inflicted numerous blows on him with a garden hoe.
Forensic experts collected, and investigators seized the hoe as the weapon and sent it for the appropriate expert examination.
The suspect was detained in procedural order in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. He was notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — intentional grievous bodily injury that caused the victim’s death.
The court is expected to decide on a preventive measure for the suspect shortly. For the committed offense he faces up to 10 years in prison.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing under the procedural supervision of the prosecutor’s office.
