You'll have to wait for the package: "Nova Poshta" will suspend operations even during a "yellow" air-raid alert

“Nova Poshta” introduces a stricter security protocol during air threat alerts. Branches, terminals, depots and other company logistics facilities will suspend operations after an air raid alert is announced regardless of whether it involves drones, missiles or another type of threat. The company reported 18 September 2026 in a comment to “Interfax-Ukraine”.

The company chose its own security approach amid preparations for a new system of air alerts in Ukraine. Earlier the government said that during the “yellow” level related to a drone threat, businesses under certain conditions could continue operating. However, “Nova Poshta” decided not to make exceptions based on the type of official alert. The company explained that after receiving an alert signal, work processes at facilities must be stopped and employees should move to the nearest shelters.

In addition, the company is implementing its own system for monitoring potential threats. If it detects a danger directly to a specific branch, depot, terminal or other facility, its operations may be temporarily suspended even if an official air alert has not yet been declared in the city or region.

Prolonged and frequent alerts can affect the processing and delivery times of shipments. To restore operations more quickly after the all-clear, “Nova Poshta” is preparing contingency scenarios: if necessary it will bring in additional staff, redistribute the workload between facilities and change logistics routes. The company also noted that shortening the curfew could allow more time for night and early-morning logistics operations. This makes it possible to process cargo that accumulated due to forced stoppages during air alerts more quickly.

At the same time, “Nova Poshta” continues to transition to a decentralized fulfillment model. Operations and inventories are distributed among different sites to reduce dependence on a single large logistics center. For security reasons the company does not disclose the exact locations of such facilities, stock volumes or backup routes.

The tightening of measures comes after a series of Russian strikes on the company’s logistics infrastructure. In early September the Russian rocket-drone “Banderol” destroyed a depot and a branch in Dnipro – one employee was killed and another five were injured. Russian forces also attacked company facilities in Odesa, and on 12 September 2026 a strike on the terminal there injured two people.

For residents of Mykolaiv this means that during any official air alert it is worth considering a possible temporary suspension of “Nova Poshta” branches. And if there is a local threat, an individual company facility may cease operations even before the general alarm signal.
