The hearse bus was left without a driver: a dash into a tree line in the Kherson region
A man was being sought by the Kryvyi Rih Territorial Recruitment Center; police are conducting an internal investigation
A minibus carrying a coffin was left without a driver during a funeral procession in the Kherson region. The incident occurred on October 22 in one of the settlements of the Velyka Oleksandrivka community. Regional police are conducting an internal investigation into the circumstances.
Before a checkpoint, the drivers of two vehicles abruptly turned off the main road and rejoined it only after passing the inspection point. Police then stopped both vehicles.
During the inspection, it turned out that the driver of the funeral service minibus was wanted by the Central City District Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center in Kryvyi Rih. The grounds for the wanted status were evading military registration, failing to undergo a military medical commission, and evading conscription into military service during mobilization.
The man was not detained: throughout his interaction with law enforcement, he remained in the vehicle. Meanwhile, the deceased’s relatives arrived and began moving the coffin with the body onto a trailer.
Police offered to escort the funeral procession to its destination and set off first. During the journey, the driver stopped the minibus, jumped out, and fled into a wooded area.
The investigation found that police were not nearby when the vehicle stopped and the driver fled, so they did not witness it themselves. The officers were told about the driver’s actions by witnesses traveling behind them.
