A drone struck near a Kyiv metro train: smoke appeared in the carriage

A Russian drone struck the fence near the roadway of the Southern Bridge in Kyiv while a metro train was passing over an open section of track across the bridge. Passengers were not injured. Witnesses, quoted by Channel 5, described the circumstances of the strike.

Passengers described a powerful explosion and a flash after the impact. Later smoke appeared in the carriage, and ash, they said, began to fall from the ventilation.

Despite the strike, the train crossed the bridge to the right bank and reached the station «Vydubychi». Passengers were disembarked there. Witnesses do not have information on whether the train itself was damaged. After that, service on the green line was continued by another train.

The mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, reported two UAV strikes near the support section of the Southern Bridge. According to him, metro and surface public transport traffic across the bridge was suspended while the structure was being inspected. The condition of the bridge after the strikes is being examined by specialists from the municipal enterprise KP «Kyivavtoshlyakhmist».
