President Volodymyr Zelensky at the Yalta European Strategy (YES) said that if it is impossible to achieve peace now, the parties can agree on an energy truce and guarantee food security.

In the head of state’s opinion, the prolongation of the war creates problems not only for Ukraine, but also for the economy of Russia and the whole world. As an example, he cited the situation with the food corridor in the Black Sea.

Separately, the president assured:

Ukrainians will not be left without food.

Volodymyr Zelensky explained how export difficulties could affect the grain market and the food situation in other countries:

Grain prices will fall because exports will be expensive, the infrastructure for that trade will be complicated, and logistics — terrible. For us it will be very difficult. But, apart from Ukraine, other countries will find themselves in a much worse situation where there simply will be no food. Many peoples will have nothing to eat, even if they have money. That is true. It will be Ormuz, only agricultural. And this is a serious problem. This issue should not be resolved by Ukraine alone, because it is a challenge for many.

The president also emphasized that Ukraine is ready to respond to Russia in the event of possible attacks on energy infrastructure in winter. At the same time, the country continues to advocate for a diplomatic settlement of the war.
