The Verkhovna Rada has extended martial law and mobilization for another 90 days
The law will come into force on October 31 after a parliamentary vote
On Monday, October 26, 2026, the Verkhovna Rada approved extending martial law and general mobilization in Ukraine for another 90 days. The law will come into force on October 31.
The original text gives January 29, 2026 as the end date of the extension. However, this date falls before the October vote, so the year in which the extension ends needs to be clarified.
Support in parliament for the two resolutions differed:
- 293 MPs voted to extend martial law, while 1 voted against.
- 251 MPs supported extending general mobilization, 1 voted against, and another 1 abstained.
Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, this has been the 21st such vote.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy also signed the laws extending martial law and general mobilization. The relevant documents were received by the Verkhovna Rada on July 24.
