Massive attack on the Mykolaiv region: Russians struck with KABs, missiles and drones — four people were injured

During the day on 28 July 2026, Russian forces carried out a massive combined attack on Mykolaiv and Mykolaiv District. According to preliminary investigative data, the occupiers used weapons of various types — two guided aerial bombs, five cruise missiles and two rocket-powered unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

As a result of the Russian strike, four civilians were injured. In Mykolaiv, three residents were wounded — two men and one woman.

Another victim is an 86-year-old man from Mykolaiv District. He sustained burns and was hospitalized.

Private houses and apartment buildings, vehicles, as well as civilian and industrial infrastructure facilities were damaged by the shelling. Fires broke out at some sites after impacts.

Rescuers, law enforcement, utility services and municipal enterprise workers were involved in eliminating the consequences of the attack. Specialists are inspecting damaged houses, documenting destruction and determining the scope of necessary restoration work.

City authorities, commenting on the consequences of the massive Russian strike on residential areas of Mykolaiv, stressed that the aggressor is deliberately terrorizing the civilian population, but will not be able to force Ukrainians to surrender.

“Russian scum massively attacked our city during the day. All necessary services and municipal enterprise workers are involved in eliminating the consequences. At present, damage is known in the private sector and in apartment buildings. We are inspecting houses and determining the scope of the work. Russian aggressors continue to terrorize the civilian population, attack residential neighborhoods, and want to kill as many Ukrainians as possible. And they think that we will surrender. That is not the case. We continue to work, we believe and we help the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). That rotten country will pay for everything. Take care of yourselves and respond to air raid alerts”.

Under the procedural guidance of the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a pre-trial investigation has been launched into the latest attack by the Russian armed forces on the territory of Mykolaiv and Mykolaiv District.

Prosecutors together with law enforcement are documenting the damage and other consequences of the strikes. All circumstances of the latest war crime by Russian servicemen are also being established.

A criminal proceeding has been opened for violation of the laws and customs of war — under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
