"Six Seven" already in Korabelnyi: schoolchildren are filming videos to a strange TikTok trend
A ridiculous meme or a new school craze: why children are repeating "6-7" en masse
In the Korabelnyi district of Mykolaiv a new TikTok trend has already reached elementary school students. Pupils in the lower grades of the Mykolaiv Lyceum named after Oleh Olzhych record videos to a track featuring the phrase “six seven”, actively wave their arms and repeat movements that have become part of a popular internet meme.
At first glance this looks like an ordinary children’s flash mob: kids stand together, move their arms, follow the rhythm and film a short video for TikTok. But the trend itself, which is now spreading widely among schoolchildren in different countries, has a much stranger origin.
The meme “six seven”, or “6-7”, became one of the most popular internet jokes among children and teenagers in 2025. It is shouted, repeated in videos, accompanied by hand gestures and often used simply as an absurd phrase without a clear meaning.
According to Dictionary.com, the term “67” was named Word of the Year in 2025. The dictionary’s editors noted that even adults are still trying to understand what the phrase actually means. For schoolchildren it became a kind of signal for “one of us”, and for many parents and teachers — another example of the obscure internet language of the new generation.
The meme’s origin is linked to a track by American rapper Skrilla, “Doot Doot (6 7)”. The repeating phrase “6-7” from that composition made its way into short videos and then began to live a life of its own on TikTok, Reels and in school chats. Associated Press explains that the expression does not have one fixed meaning: it can be used as a “meh”, as a joke, or simply as an exclamation that only makes sense within a group of kids.

Separately, the meme became associated with basketball content. It is often linked to basketball player LaMelo Ball, whose height is 6 feet 7 inches. Because of this, the phrase started being used in sports videos, and later it spread far beyond basketball.
In schools the trend quickly became an irritant. Children may suddenly shout “six seven”, react to the numbers 6 and 7, repeat hand movements and disrupt attention during class. In the United Kingdom teachers have already reported having to deal with this meme separately in classrooms, because students pick it up collectively.
For children it looks like a harmless joke and a way to be “in the know”. For adults — like another instance of “brainrot”, i.e., digital noise that quickly sticks in the memory but means almost nothing. This is why there is so much irritation around “six seven”: it’s hard to explain the meaning, yet it is repeated very actively.
There is another point parents should be aware of. The original Skrilla track is not a children’s song or a school flash mob. It is a rap composition with a harsh street context. Children who film videos to this sound usually pick up only the meme phrase and the hand movements, without delving into the original’s content.
So the mere appearance of such videos in lower grades does not mean something catastrophic. But it shows how quickly TikTok trends penetrate the school environment — even when adults have not yet figured out where the phrase came from and what lies behind the popular sound.
In the case of the Lyceum named after Oleh Olzhych in the Korabelnyi district of Mykolaiv, this is precisely about children imitating a trend: students repeat a popular sound, movements and the video format. But for parents it is a good reason not to scold children automatically, and instead calmly ask what they are watching, which tracks they use and why a particular meme suddenly became “very funny” for the whole class.
