In Mykolaiv, motorists will be fined for parking on lawns in courtyards, - Senkevych

The mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Senkevych, reported that the parking inspection may begin fining residents who park cars on green areas near apartment buildings; the statement was made during an open staff meeting on Monday, 2 March.

According to the mayor, regularly issuing fines should deter drivers from parking on lawns and residential green areas adjacent to apartment buildings, if local residents are unable to resolve conflicts with violators on their own.

He emphasized that the parking inspection can become a tool of influence to force violators to follow the rules and use the areas designated for that purpose.

The mayor tied his remarks to a concrete course of action and reminded of the possibility of fines if the rules are ignored:

– If there are active drivers who park cars in green areas, we can use our parking inspection to fine such drivers for parking in an inappropriate place. If neighbors cannot deal with such reckless drivers on their own, then we can fine them, so that paying fines becomes more expensive for them than leaving a car on the platforms that are specifically allocated for this purpose , – said the mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Senkevych.

Earlier Oleksandr Senkevych had also urged residents of apartment buildings to resolve disputes with violating neighbors themselves and not rely exclusively on the response of municipal services; this was stated in a previous post on the site.
