So treatment can continue: a regional medical facility in Mykolaiv Oblast is being prepared for winter
The institution is to receive supra-cluster status in the future capacity network
A regional medical facility in the Mykolaiv region is being prepared for the autumn-winter season to ensure that possible disruptions to electricity, heating and water supplies do not interrupt patient care. Its readiness was inspected by Heorhii Reshetilov, acting head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration.
Under the future capable network, the facility is set to receive supercluster status. The inspection focused primarily on its autonomy and ability to provide uninterrupted medical care.
To keep critical medical equipment running during power outages, the facility has:
- diesel generators with a fuel reserve in place;
- battery-powered uninterruptible power supply systems;
- solar power stations with energy storage systems.
The facility is heated by its own gas boiler houses and boilers. A pellet boiler house has also been installed, but it is still undergoing permitting and commissioning procedures. In case of water supply disruptions, the facility has its own well, and water treatment systems are in operation.
The preparations are intended to ensure that medical staff can continue working reliably and patients remain comfortable throughout the winter.
“I am satisfied with the facility’s level of preparedness for winter. We are continuing to strengthen its autonomy, taking the needs of patients and medical staff into account,” Heorhii Reshetilov said.
During the visit, they also discussed further steps to strengthen the facility’s autonomy:
- commissioning alternative heating;
- expanding the reserve water supply;
- purchasing an autonomous oxygen station.
The facility is currently operating as usual and continues to provide patients with the medical care they need.
