Power in reserve: German partners delivered a new batch of generators to Mykolaiv
Hospitals, schools and Points of Invincibility must not be left in the dark: the city has received new backup power
A new batch of generators from German partners was delivered to Mykolaiv to strengthen the city’s energy security. This was reported on 22 May 2026 by the Mykolaiv City Council.
According to the Mykolaiv Development Agency, the city received 9 generators “Ricardo RTE 100 kVA”, 66 generators “Daewoo GDA 9250E” and 1 generator “Caterpillar 400 kVA”. This is another shipment from the German Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW).
The equipment is planned to be directed to the needs of critical infrastructure, hospitals, schools, municipal services and Points of Invincibility. These are the facilities that must remain operational even during difficult power supply situations. For frontline Mykolaiv, backup power is a matter not of comfort but of the city’s survival. After Russian attacks on the energy sector and infrastructure, generators are needed by hospitals, water supply, heat-generating enterprises, social institutions and centers where people can go during prolonged outages.
“We continue to work on strengthening the city’s energy security. Every new piece of equipment is saved hours of light for the people of Mykolaiv. It is also a guarantee that our hospitals, the water utility, heat-generating enterprises and other strategic facilities will be able to operate without interruption”, – said Deputy Mayor Sergiy Korenev.
The city council thanked international partners for their support. It is emphasized that such assistance allows Mykolaiv to better prepare for possible emergencies and reduce the consequences of Russian strikes on the energy system.
German partners are not helping Mykolaiv with energy resilience equipment for the first time. Previously, the city also received diesel generators for critical infrastructure facilities and the needs of the region.
