A 4.5-month-old tigress that escaped from an enclosure at the Mykolaiv Zoo was found on the grounds using a thermal imaging camera. The animal was returned to the enclosure where the other tiger cub is staying.
The escape took place overnight from Saturday into Sunday. Zoo director Volodymyr Topchyi explained that there was a gap between the metal bars in the quarantine room where the two tiger cubs were being kept. The little tigress managed to get out through this opening.
The search was suspended until morning because the zoo staff were exhausted. Volunteers were going to be recruited to continue the search, but their help was not needed.
The tigress is now eating and playing. Her life and health are not in danger.
