In the Balabanivskyi Forest, 2 hectares of coniferous litter burned: it took four hours to extinguish the fire
The cause of the fire is determined
During the day on 24 June 2026, a large-scale fire broke out in the Balabanivske forest tract in the Korabelnyi district of Mykolaiv.
This was reported by the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Mykolaiv Oblast.
At the time of the rescuers’ arrival, the fire had engulfed dry grass and the coniferous litter. Due to hot weather and dry vegetation, there was a threat of the flames spreading to the forest stand.
The fire was extinguished over four hours. The total area of the blaze amounted to 2 hectares. The fire destroyed the coniferous litter, but the rescuers managed to prevent the fire from spreading and saved the forest stand. The situation was also monitored from the air.
After the main hotspots were extinguished, rescuers remained on site until morning to prevent re-ignition.
Units of the 3rd, 4th and 5th State Fire and Rescue Units, the local fire brigades «Halytsynivska» and «Prybuzke», equipment from the Emergency Rescue Unit of Special Purpose, and employees of SE «Mykolaiv Forestry Enterprise» were involved in extinguishing the fire.
The cause of the fire is being determined.
