An Audi car burned near its owner's workplace: police are investigating arson
Physical evidence from the scene of the fire will be sent for examination
In the evening of September 22 on Prospekt Myru an Audi car caught fire; the owner had parked it the day before near her workplace. The fire damaged the vehicle, and investigators have opened a criminal case for intentional damage to property by arson.
Reports from local residents reached the police at about 19:45. The circumstances of the incident were investigated by an investigative team from Police Station No. 2 of the Mykolaiv District Police Department. Firefighters extinguished the car fire.
At the scene of the blaze, police seized charred fragments of the vehicle and other physical evidence. They will be sent for expert examination. Investigators are determining the persons involved in the crime and all circumstances of the incident.
A pre-trial investigation was opened under Part 2 of Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — intentional damage to property committed by arson. The article’s penalty provides for up to 10 years of imprisonment.
The police are seeking witnesses and ask citizens who have information useful to the investigation to call (0512) 53-17-81, 063 322 68 99 or 102.
