May 1 2026, the Mykolaiv City Council reported that the city remains among the leaders in Ukraine in activity in the program “GreenHome”. The city has already installed and commissioned 7 solar power plants that help residents of apartment buildings reduce electricity costs and increase the buildings’ autonomy.

One of the showcase projects for Mykolaiv was implemented on the roof of an OSBB. An inverter with a capacity of 30 kW, battery storage of 60 kW and a solar array with a capacity of 30 kW were installed there.

According to the city council, this system powers the rooftop boiler, lighting in common areas, elevators in “mixing” mode, intercoms, video surveillance, as well as pump equipment for water supply.

In practice, for residents this means greater resilience of the building during power outages. This is especially important for multi-storey buildings where, without electricity, elevators, pumps, water-supply systems and equipment related to heating can stop.

However, despite the successful examples, the participation of new OSBBs in the program is currently in question: the acceptance of applications for “GreenHome”, which is implemented by the State Institution “Energy Efficiency Fund”, has been temporarily suspended. In Mykolaiv they are awaiting the program’s resumption and advise residents to follow further announcements.
