For the second day in a row, there have been no air-raid alerts in Mykolaiv Oblast
Possible explanation: a ceasefire for a humanitarian operation in Oleshky
As of October 28, air-raid alerts have not been issued in the Mykolaiv region for the second day in a row. The last alert sounded overnight into October 27, at approximately 02:00.
A possible explanation for this pause is the ceasefire in Oleshky. Melania Trump, wife of U.S. President Donald Trump, said the ceasefire had been extended to other areas as well.
Oleshky is located in the Kherson region, on the left bank of the Dnipro River. The city has remained under Russian occupation since the first days of the full-scale invasion in February 2022. Authorities have reported that residents are facing shortages of food, medicine, and clean water.
The sides agreed to a temporary ceasefire to deliver humanitarian aid and prepare for the safe departure of civilians who wish to leave the city. It came into effect on October 27.
Ukraine declared a ceasefire in a designated area to allow a humanitarian operation to take place. The Russian side also announced a ceasefire. Demining operations are currently underway.
According to the Ukrainian side, the ceasefire is to remain in effect until 22:59 on November 1, 2026.
