A woman stole pumpkins from a Halloween display in Mykolaiv three times
After speaking with the owner, she promised not to do it again
In Mykolaiv, a woman three times stole pumpkins used to decorate a building at 58 Spaska Street for Halloween. The woman who owned the decorations confronted her and asked directly why she was taking what did not belong to her.
A video of their conversation appeared online. The local woman was with a dog, while her conversation partner was probably a shop employee. The encounter began with an ironic greeting:
“Hello, you’re practically one of the family now—we see you on all the cameras, every day. Have you seen how many pumpkins we still have? Come by again,” the owner of the pumpkins said.
The woman admitted that she had taken the pumpkins. When asked why she needed them, she explained:
“Because I want to eat,” the woman with the dog replied.
The owner of the decorations then asked what the woman had and said she needed a jacket, since she was standing there in just a cardigan. Her conversation partner replied that she had her own jacket.
The owner of the pumpkins asked whether the local woman was going to keep doing this and whether she should go file a police report. When the woman asked why she would do that, the owner explained that she was taking someone else’s property—items that cost money and that the owner had paid for.
“Your pumpkins are small, and I took a big one,” the woman with the dog said.
The owner asked where she was supposed to get replacement pumpkins now.
“I ate it,” the local woman replied.
“You ate three pumpkins, and you think that’s normal and that you’ll keep doing it. So should we hire security?” the owner of the decorations asked.
At the end of the conversation, the woman promised she would stop taking the pumpkins:
“I won’t! I swear,” she promised.
