Evacuation from occupied Oleshky: everyone wishing to leave is already on their way
The humanitarian mission was coordinated by U.S. First Lady Melania Trump
The evacuation phase of the humanitarian mission in temporarily occupied Oleshky, Kherson Region has concluded. On the evening of October 30, Dmytro Lubinets, the Human Rights Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada, reported that all residents who wanted to leave for territory controlled by Ukraine had left the city. They are already on their way.
A large-scale humanitarian convoy was prepared for the operation. As Melania Trump, First Lady of the United States, said, it was organized to evacuate more than 750 Oleshky residents. The operation involved:
- 25 buses with a total capacity of 750 seats;
- 50 medical workers;
- ambulances.
“Our priority is saving lives,” emphasized Melania Trump, First Lady of the United States.
She also noted that the operation was fully coordinated between Ukraine and Russia. The parties’ mutual agreements made it possible to ensure the humanitarian convoy’s safe passage to and from Oleshky.
According to Dmytro Lubinets, the mission was carried out in accordance with agreements with Russia’s Human Rights Commissioner, Yana Lantratova, while Melania Trump coordinated the process. Lantratova also confirmed that the humanitarian mission had concluded and said that all residents who wished to leave had been given the opportunity to travel to territory controlled by Ukraine.
In addition to the evacuation, humanitarian aid was delivered to Oleshky. Ukraine’s ombudsman also provided details about compliance with the ceasefire:
“The ceasefire has been in effect for 87 hours. No violations have been recorded,” said Dmytro Lubinets.
He thanked the Ukrainian Defense Forces, whose efforts made the humanitarian operation possible.
