63 oak and ash trees were illegally cut down in the Mykolaiv region

In the protective forest belts of the Burylivka Starosta District of the Kryve Ozero Settlement Community in Mykolaiv region, the illegal felling of 63 trees was discovered. The damage caused to the state exceeds 1.2 million hryvnias.

According to the State Environmental Inspectorate of the Southwestern District, inspectors from PEC No. 2 found that the following trees had been illegally felled in the forest belts:

• 29 oaks;
• 34 ash trees.

For both incidents, the Environmental Inspectorate sent notices of possible criminal offenses to the Pervomaisk District Prosecutor’s Office. The reports were filed in accordance with Article 214 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

The prosecutor’s office reported that criminal proceedings had been initiated on suspicion of an offense under Part 4 of Article 246 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This article concerns illegal logging, as well as the illegal transportation, storage, and sale of timber where the qualifying circumstances specified by law are present.
