Russian missiles have once again “found” a hospital: the operating room at the Institute of Cardiology came under attack
Patients came to the doctors for help, but another Russian strike put them in danger again
Russian forces again attacked the Strazhesko Institute of Cardiology of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine in Kyiv. Ukraine’s Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi reported the latest strike on the medical facility on October 20, 2026, on his Telegram channel. According to him, this is the second Russian attack on the institute: last year, the fourth floor of the building was hit, and this time the operating room on the sixth floor was damaged.
In September 2025, the Strazhesko Institute of Cardiology was struck by Russian forces for the first time. The attack killed a nurse and a patient.
The Strazhesko Institute specializes in treating cardiovascular diseases and serves patients from all regions of Ukraine. The facility performs complex heart surgeries, provides care for people after heart attacks, and supports their recovery.
The renewed strike on a facility where doctors fight for patients’ lives every day once again put people in need of urgent medical care at risk. Despite the danger, medical staff continue to work and save patients. Serhii Koretskyi thanked the institute’s staff for their work and dedication to patients.
