Hanna Montavon is leaving the Supervisory Board of Mykolaivvodokanal: she named three reasons

The Chair of the Supervisory Board of MKP “Mykolaivvodokanal” Anna Montavon announced the completion of her work on the board. September 10 2026 she submitted a resignation letter at her own request. Montavon announced her decision on her personal Facebook page.

The Supervisory Board of “Mykolaivvodokanal” began work in September 2025. At its first meeting its members elected a chair and a deputy, and also defined the main directions of work. According to the city council, the creation of the board was meant to introduce a modern model of corporate governance at the enterprise, and to increase the transparency and efficiency of its activities.

It was Anna Montavon who was elected Chair of the Supervisory Board. Thus, she served in this position for about a year. According to Montavon, during this time they managed to launch a number of processes aimed at changing the enterprise’s management system and to achieve initial results. In June 2026, during the Supervisory Board’s report, it was noted, in particular, changes to the enterprise’s organizational structure, the introduction of controls over fuel use, the preparation of video surveillance and GPS monitoring systems, as well as the first reduction in technical water losses. Montavon emphasized that the work during this year mattered not only for “Mykolaivvodokanal” itself, but also for the development of corporate governance in the city’s municipal sector.

The Chair of the Supervisory Board named three main reasons for her decision.

First – privacy and family safety.

According to Montavon, Ukrainian legislation requirements on declaration may lead to the disclosure of personal information about members of her family who are not connected to her professional activities in Ukraine. She also stressed that she has already filed the 2025 declaration.

The issue of declaration requirements for supervisory board members in Mykolaiv has previously been the subject of discussion. Montavon has publicly called for clearer legal support for such bodies and for their members to be informed in advance about the requirements of Ukrainian law.

Second reason – new international professional commitments.

Montavon said that her further work will involve a significant number of projects and trips, including to Asia and the United States. Because of this, she will not be able to devote as much time to work on the Supervisory Board as, in her view, the position requires.

Third reason – the need to improve the corporate governance model itself.

In Montavon‘s view, for supervisory boards in the municipal sector to work effectively, it is necessary to more clearly regulate:

• procedures for the commencement and termination of board members’ service;
• legal support for their activities;
• ownership policy of municipal enterprises;
• liability insurance for supervisory board members;
• division of powers between the enterprise owner, the Supervisory Board, and management.

Earlier Montavon had already stated that the lack of standardized procedures when creating supervisory boards in Mykolaiv creates risks for attracting professional specialists to them.

Currently Anna Montavon is handing over affairs and concluding her participation in the work of the Supervisory Board. According to her information, the election of a new Chair of the Supervisory Board of MKP “Mykolaivvodokanal” is to take place on September 16, 2026.

Montavon thanked the other board members, the company team, the Mykolaiv City Council, international partners, and everyone who contributed to changes at the enterprise.
