In Warsaw, a 30-year-old man suspected of a brutal attack on two Ukrainian citizens on a city bus has been arrested. According to Polish police, the attacker inflicted numerous stab and cut wounds on the passengers, and the motive may have been the victims’ nationality. The man fled after the attack, but law enforcement officers tracked him down and arrested him. The Polish outlet RMF24 reported this on October 30, 2026, citing police. The Warsaw Metropolitan Police Headquarters also published the information.

The attack took place in the first half of October 2026 during a ride on a city bus. The man pulled out a knife and attacked two passengers—Ukrainian citizens. The victims sustained numerous stab and cut wounds and were taken to hospital. After the attack, the assailant left the scene before law enforcement officers arrived. Police from Warsaw’s Bielany district quickly identified him and began searching for him. During the investigation, officers discovered that the suspect was hiding and living in a forested area in the Bielany district. He was arrested last Saturday and Sunday—that is, the weekend before the report was published. According to police, the investigation established that the attack on the Ukrainians was motivated by their nationality.

After his arrest, the man was charged with three offenses. Two of the charges relate to the attack on the Ukrainian citizens. They include attempted grievous bodily harm, as well as causing bodily injuries that resulted in impaired bodily functions for more than 7 days. Police also said that, according to investigators, the suspect committed these crimes as a repeat offender. He had previously served a prison sentence for a similar intentional crime. According to law enforcement, the new offenses were committed within 5 years of serving at least 6 months of his previous sentence.

The third charge concerns threats made against another man. This incident took place back in August 2024 at a venue on Shakespeare Street in Warsaw. According to police, the suspect had failed to appear when summoned by the prosecutor’s office in connection with that case. According to investigators, he also committed this offense as a repeat offender. At the prosecutor’s request, the court ordered the suspect’s pretrial detention for 3 months. The penalties for the alleged offenses range from 3 to 20 years in prison. Polish law enforcement officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the attack. The man is considered a suspect, and his guilt must be established by a court.
