In the Korablenyi District of Mykolaiv, plans are underway to strengthen the reliability of heat supply to apartment buildings during planned and emergency power outages. By the start of the 2026–2027 heating season, 31 individual heating units (ITPs) are to be equipped with uninterruptible power supply systems.

This was reported on 13 July 2026 by the Mykolaiv City Council.

OCП “Mykolaivoblteploenerho” and the public organization “Youth of Ukraine” have signed a memorandum of cooperation. Under the agreement, modern uninterruptible power supply systems will be installed at the ITPs, which will include inverters, battery packs and other necessary equipment.

The backup power will allow the heating substations to continue operating even after the power goes out. For residents of multi-storey buildings this means that radiators should not cool down immediately after a power outage, as repeatedly happened last winter.

Installation of the systems, their commissioning and subsequent maintenance will be provided by OCП “Mykolaivoblteploenerho”.

In the Korablenyi District, the dependence of heating on electricity has long become one of the most acute communal problems. Automated ITPs stopped without electricity, after which the temperature of radiators and apartments gradually dropped. Long outages were especially hard for families with children, elderly people and residents of poorly insulated apartments.

In May 2026, “Korabeliv.Info” already reported on the installation of inverters and batteries in the district provided by the DanChurchAid and Norwegian Church Aid representation in Ukraine. At that time the enterprise received 40 units, of which 31 had already been installed and the remaining 9 were promised to be installed shortly.

The director of OCП “Mykolaivoblteploenerho”, Mykola Logvinov, speaking about the equipment received from DCA‑NCA and the long power outages, said:

“This year there was a major outage lasting 18–19 hours, and we had to start generators. DCA‑NCA gave us equipment, inverters and batteries that allow ITPs to operate without stopping, without mains power, for 15–20 hours. They provide us with the equipment, we install it ourselves. We have our own service that handles installation and maintenance of this equipment. We have already received 40 units, 31 of them are already installed. We will deliver the other 9 units shortly. And as new units arrive, we will outfit them. All ITPs in this district will be equipped with inverters and batteries,” said Mykola Logvinov.

According to previously published official data, 92 individual heating units operate in the Korablenyi District. Donors promised to deliver backup power equipment for all these facilities before the start of the new heating season.

Earlier in March 2026, the head of the heat supply company reported that during January and February 29 generators were installed to power ITPs in the district, and that subsequently all heating substations on the company’s balance were planned to be equipped with inverters, batteries and generators.

At the same time, the heat infrastructure continues to be upgraded in the Korablenyi District. In June 2026, OCП “Mykolaivoblteploenerho” began replacing 400 meters of the main pipeline as part of preparations for the 2026–2027 heating season.
