Children of TCC employees have begun to be bullied at schools: they are being labeled with insulting messages

Children of employees of territorial recruitment and social support centers are facing bullying because of their parents’ professional activities. Such cases were reported at the meeting of the TSC by Lieutenant Colonel Volodymyr Chaban, Deputy Head for Personnel Psychological Support of the Odesa Regional Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center.

According to him, this problem was discussed at a meeting of the temporary investigative commission. The representative of the recruitment center noted that public tension around mobilization and the work of the TRSC in some cases is beginning to affect not only the servicemembers themselves but also their family members.

In particular, this concerns the children of employees of the Izmail Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center. According to Volodymyr Chaban, there were situations when pupils had labels with humiliating inscriptions related to the activities of recruitment centers attached to their clothing.

“Not all servicemembers in the TRSC are bad. Some employees worry about their own safety and the safety of their families. Due to my duties I speak with each of them; they are worried about the safety of their children. We have cases of children being bullied, when children of Izmail TRSC employees have labels attached to their backs reading “daughter of the TRSC”, — he said.

Volodymyr Chaban also noted that due to the public outcry around the activities of the TRSC, some servicemembers are concerned about their own safety and the safety of their loved ones.

Separately, he provided personnel data: approximately 43% of servicemembers of the Odesa Regional TRSC have the status of participants in hostilities. According to Volodymyr Chaban, among the center’s staff there are those who took part in hostilities even after the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The issue of the TRSCs’ work remains one of the most sensitive in society. Ukrainians regularly complain about violations during mobilization activities, document processing and military medical examinations (VLK). At the same time, bullying children because of their parents’ workplace is a dangerous line that has nothing to do with either criticism of the system or oversight of officials’ actions.

Complaints about the work of state bodies should be resolved through complaints, investigations, courts and public oversight. Children do not make decisions in the TRSC, are not responsible for the state’s mobilization policy and should not become targets of public aggression.
