A man and his 8-year-old daughter were taken to the territorial recruitment center — the child spent more than 10 hours there
The juvenile police handed the girl over to her mother at around 23:30; the lawyer's complaint regarding coercion into VLK has been registered
An incident involving a conscription-age man and his daughter occurred in Kropyvnytskyi: on May 24 local resident Yevhen, together with his 8-year-old child, was taken to the city TCC and SP, where the girl remained for more than ten hours, after which the juvenile police late in the evening handed her over to her mother.
The case was reported by Suspilne, specifying that the man was stopped by police officers together with representatives of the TCC during a check of military registration documents while he was driving in a car with his daughter, born in 2018.
According to the defense attorney, the man was told that he was to be taken to the TCC to clarify registration data and undergo a military-medical commission, while he stressed that a minor daughter dependent on him was with him and that the child’s mother is currently in Dnipro; the couple are divorcing.
“My client was forced to undergo the military-medical commission, despite the fact that a minor daughter was with him and there was no relative nearby to whom the child could be handed,” — said lawyer Nataliya Yazan.
The lawyer said she tried to enter the premises of the recruitment center as a defense counsel, however, she said, she was not allowed in; after calling the police, law enforcement officers recorded the complaint, while noting that they were not able to intervene in the situation.
The TCC confirmed that the man with the child was in the center’s premises, and explained that the conscript had no legal grounds for a deferment or exemption; the center also noted that the man voluntarily agreed to come with his daughter until her mother arrived and that the juvenile police and the girl’s mother were informed of the situation immediately.
Later the police handed the child to the mother: according to Oksana Kovtunenko, a representative of the Kirovohrad region police, at about 23:30 the girl was taken by juvenile prevention officers and given to her mother against signature.
At the same time the defense emphasizes that the father did not know exactly where the daughter was taken, and claims that men in balaclavas entered the premises at night and led the child out.
“He called me and said: Find my child,” — said lawyer Nataliya Yazan.
The police said that the lawyer’s complaint has been registered and a check into the circumstances of the incident is currently underway.
In addition, the lawyer believes her client’s rights were violated, since the procedure for undergoing the military-medical commission should provide for the possibility of postponing the examination, in particular if the conscript is with a minor child.
