Chonhar Bridge again under drone attack: traffic halted, occupiers are diverting transport via Armyansk and Perekop
Russian air defenses claim to have intercepted more than 20 drones, and prolonged detours are complicating the supply of equipment to the southern front
At night on June 9, drones again struck the Chonhar Bridge across the Syvash, which connects the occupied peninsula to mainland Ukraine, after which traffic across the crossing was completely halted.
Occupation administrations reported the closure and urged drivers to use detours via Armyansk and Perekop.
“I ask drivers to use alternative routes via Armyansk and Perekop,” — said the Russia-appointed gauleiter Volodymyr Saldo.
Defense Ministry adviser Serhiy Sternenko on his Telegram channel confirmed that the Defense Forces struck the facility again, which is used as one of the main arteries for transferring equipment and ammunition to the southern front.
According to Saldo, their air defense units reportedly intercepted more than 20 drones in front of the bridge.
“Most targets were destroyed while still inbound. Without their actions, the consequences could have been significantly more serious,” — said Volodymyr Saldo.
The Chonhar crossing is strategically important as the shortest overland route between Crimea and the mainland, while detours via Armyansk and Perekop make logistics longer and more complicated.
