One of the biggest strikes of the year: Reshetilov spoke about the consequences of the attack on Mykolaiv
Port, warehouses, energy infrastructure and housing: what was damaged during the massive shelling
Mykolaiv and the region on the night of 8 to 9 September 2026 suffered one of the largest Russian strikes since the beginning of the year. The enemy used rockets “Iskander”, UAVs “Banderol” and “Shahed”, guided aerial bombs, and attacked some communities with FPV drones.
This was on the air of “Suspilne” reported by the acting head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Heorhiy Reshetilov.
“Over the last day we record that the region is under one of the largest strikes in 2026. The duration of the shelling complicates the work of emergency services, clearance operations, debris removal, extraction of remaining munitions”, – Reshetilov said.
According to him, the Halytsynivska community suffered significant damage. In Mykolaiv and the region, port infrastructure, warehouses, industrial, transport and energy facilities, residential buildings, postal facilities and shopping centers were damaged.
A 70-year-old woman was killed as a result of the attack. As of the morning, there are already six injured, including a 15-year-old girl. Information on the number of wounded is being clarified.
Reshetilov noted that the exact targets of the Russian strike can be determined only after the attack ends and an analysis of the impact sites.
At the same time, he emphasized that a significant portion of the damaged facilities belong to civilian infrastructure. These include Mykolaiv’s port infrastructure, which has not been operating since 2022 due to the blockade, as well as warehouses, shopping centers, transport and industrial facilities.
