Ukraine needs at least 5.4 billion euros to prepare for the heating season, Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said during the Energy Ramstein meeting.
Among the government’s top priorities for the period of preparation for the cold season, the head of the Ministry of Energy singled out key areas and urged partners to accelerate assistance.
«Our priorities are clearly defined: protecting energy infrastructure; speeding up the procurement of equipment and materials for repairs; developing distributed generation; a large-scale repair campaign; building up gas reserves», — said Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal during the Energy Ramstein meeting.
According to the government official, Ukrainian specialists have already inspected 8 decommissioned thermal power plants in Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia, Austria and Croatia to assess available equipment for restoring damaged facilities in Ukraine.
«We have identified equipment that can be transferred to Ukraine, and are now moving to the next stage — physical delivery and handover to the damaged energy facilities», — added Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.
The importance of the effective use of the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine is emphasized separately, for which the required amount of funding currently stands at 829 million euros.
