A truck ran over two girls in Mykolaiv
A ten-year-old child was hospitalized, and police are investigating the circumstances of the traffic accident
October 6 at approximately 13:30 at the intersection of Velyka Morska and Vadym Blahovisny streets in Mykolaiv, a DAF CF truck ran over two girls aged 9 and 10 years. The children sustained bodily injuries of varying severity. Both were taken to a medical facility, where the 10-year-old child was hospitalized.
According to the Communication Department of the Mykolaiv Region Police, the truck was driven by a 38-year-old driver. The girls were crossing the carriageway at a regulated pedestrian crossing. According to preliminary police information, they were crossing on a prohibited traffic light signal.
Investigators have preliminarily qualified the incident under Part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This concerns violation of road traffic safety rules or the operation of transport by persons operating vehicles. The sanction provides for up to three years restriction of liberty with deprivation of the right to drive for the same period.
