The disease has returned: a resident of Korabelnyi District asks for help in her fight against cancer
The family has exhausted its resources: a local woman with cancer is forced to raise money for further treatment
A resident of the Korabelnyi District of Mykolaiv, Oksana, appealed to compassionate people for help. For more than a year and a half the woman has been fighting a severe oncological disease — uterine leiomyosarcoma. During this time she has undergone complex treatment, but recent examinations have shown new progression of the disease.
The editorial office of Korabelov.info reviewed the medical documents provided by Oksana. They confirm the diagnosis of uterine leiomyosarcoma, the surgical treatment performed, courses of chemotherapy and radiation therapy. In one of the pathohistological reports it is noted FNCLCC Grade 3.
After the operation Oksana underwent chemotherapy with doxorubicin and ifosfamide. Later she was prescribed a course of radiation therapy — 28 fractions with a total dose of 50.4 Gy. The treatment took place in the autumn of 2025.
A new PET-CT was performed in Istanbul on 8 September 2026. The physician’s conclusion states that new nodular formations have appeared in the right lung, which are primarily assessed as consistent with metastatic involvement. A marked increase and metabolic progression of a lesion in the right paravertebral area were also recorded. At the same time, no signs of local recurrence in the pelvic area were detected during this study.
Doctors are now determining the further treatment strategy. Oksana has been recommended additional tests that should help select the optimal therapy option. The final regimen and its cost are still being clarified, so the woman does not name a specific amount for the entire course. It is only known that a new costly stage of treatment lies ahead, and the family’s resources after a prolonged fight with the disease are almost exhausted.
Speaking about her decision to turn to people for financial support for the first time, Oksana admits she long hesitated to take such a step.
“I hesitated for a long time whether it was worth writing this post, but now I understand: I cannot cope alone. Behind me is a difficult and exhausting path: complex surgeries, exhausting courses of chemotherapy and radiation therapy. It seemed that the hardest part was already behind… But the disease has returned — the latest examinations revealed new metastases. Ahead is a new stage of costly treatment that gives me a chance. My family has exhausted all resources, and now I really need your support. According to her, previously the family tried to pay for treatment and examinations themselves. However, after more than a year of fighting, the family’s financial means are practically exhausted, so the woman has opened a public fundraiser for the first time.
