Canada will provide Ukraine with CAD 40.1 million — approximately UAH 1.25 billion — to support Ukrainian veterans and their families. This was announced by Ukraine’s Minister for Veterans Affairs Vitaliy Kim.

The funds will be the first contribution to an international multi-donor veterans’ fund. It will be established to implement the National Strategy for Veterans Policy of Ukraine.

The funding is intended to help veterans with recovery, rehabilitation, and transition to civilian life.

The new fund will make it possible to unite international support around the needs of Ukrainian veterans and their families and to attract more resources for systemic work.

The agreement to establish the fund and Canada’s contribution was reached after a meeting between the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and the Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney.

Vitaliy Kim reported that he is already on his third day on a business trip in Canada. There he is working with Canada’s Minister of Veterans Affairs Jill McKnight and the Secretary of State for International Development Randip Sarai.

We are working with Canada’s Minister of Veterans Affairs Jill McKnight and the Secretary of State for International Development Randip Sarai. Thanks to colleagues for the productive work.
