E. coli and enterococci were detected at Strilka, Chaika, and Namiv in Mykolaiv: swimming is unsafe
No cholera vibrios were detected in the samples; water quality monitoring continues weekly
This week specialists from the Mykolaiv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, during routine monitoring, detected microbiological violations in the water at three popular bathing locations — at the “Strilka” beach on the Inhul River in Mykolaiv, as well as at the “Chaika” beach and in the “Namiv” recreational area on the Buzkyi estuary; E. coli and enterococci were recorded in the water, so visitors are warned about the danger of swimming.
The Center reminds that laboratory monitoring of water quality at official beaches and recreational areas in the region is carried out weekly during the summer health season.
This time they tested samples taken at the “Strilka” beach on the Inhul River in Mykolaiv, at the “Raiduha” beach in Pervomaisk, at the city beach of Pivdennoukrainsk, in the Sofiivske Reservoir, as well as at the “Chaika” beach, in the “Namiv” recreational area and at Tyligul.
According to the analysis results, the water from the “Strilka” beach on the Inhul, as well as from the “Chaika” beach and the “Namiv” recreational area on the Buzkyi estuary, does not meet state medical-sanitary standards for microbiological indicators.
Specialists recorded the presence of E. coli and intestinal enterococci, which indicates unsatisfactory water conditions and possible health risks when swimming in these spots.
At the same time, cholera vibrios were not detected in the tested samples.
