In Mykolaiv, a man robbed a 16-year-old girl and was sentenced to 7 years and 6 months in prison
He did not admit guilt, but the evidence said otherwise: the robber will be imprisoned for many years
In Mykolaiv Oblast a court handed down a sentence to a 27-year-old local resident who was found guilty of robbery committed under martial law. The victim in the case was a 16-year-old girl. This was reported on June 4, 2026 by the Mykolaiv Oblast Prosecutor’s Office.
Following the public prosecution by the prosecutors of the District Prosecutor’s Office of the city of Mykolaiv, the court found the man guilty under Part 4 of Article 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — robbery committed under martial law. The convicted man was sentenced to 7 years and 6 months’ imprisonment.
The court established that in September 2023 in the Central District of Mykolaiv the man approached a 16-year-old girl on the street and openly took her mobile phone. He then fled the scene. During the trial the defendant did not admit his guilt. Despite this, prosecutors gathered evidence that the court found sufficient to prove his guilt.
The prosecutor’s office reminded that the verdict of the court of first instance becomes final after the expiration of the appeal period. If an appeal is filed, the verdict will take effect after the decision of the appellate court in accordance with Article 532 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
This case again serves as a reminder of how dangerous street property crimes remain even in the city center. It is especially alarming when minors become victims of such attacks, and when a robbery is committed under martial law, since the penalties for such crimes are significantly harsher.
