In the Mykolaiv region, a pensioner was siphoning diesel from trucks
The incident occurred near a cafe in the Kobliv community
On the night of July 19, in one of the villages of the Koblevo community in Mykolaiv district, drivers exposed a 70-year-old Mykolaiv resident who is suspected of attempting to steal diesel fuel from two parked trucks. The man was detained in the course of procedural actions and notified of suspicion.
A resident of Chernivtsi who works as a truck driver contacted the police. He reported that an unknown person had stolen fuel from two vehicles.
At the scene, law enforcement officers identified the suspect. According to the police, he arrived in one of the villages of the Koblevo community in his own car.
The trucks were parked along the roadside near a local café. According to the investigation, the man attempted to steal 230 liters of diesel fuel from them using pre-prepared tools.
The suspect did not manage to leave the scene because drivers caught him. Police seized plastic containers of diesel, hoses, a funnel, tools and other evidence of criminal activity from him.
Investigators, under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor’s office, notified the man of suspicion under part 2 of Art. 15, part 4 of Art. 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — a completed attempt to covertly steal another’s property committed during martial law.
The article’s penalty provides for up to eight years in prison. Police are currently establishing the suspect’s possible involvement in similar crimes in the Mykolaiv region. The pre-trial investigation continues.
