Individuals aged 21 and 25 were identified from surveillance camera footage; the verdict has not yet become legally binding
In the Mykolaiv region, a court sentenced two residents of the Voznesensk district for a robbery committed on the evening of October 5 last year at the Voznesensk railway station; both were given 7 years of imprisonment.
The regional prosecutor’s office and the police published information about the verdict.
According to the case materials, a local resident contacted law enforcement and reported that at about 23:00 in the district center two unknown individuals attacked him, caused bodily injuries and took his mobile phone and a small bag (barsetka) with documents, money and other personal belongings. The complainant was 59 years old.
During investigative and operational measures, officers of the criminal investigation department, with the participation of analysts from the criminal analysis department of the regional police headquarters, in particular thanks to reviewing CCTV footage, together with police from the local district department, identified those involved. They turned out to be local residents aged 21 and 25 years.
Subsequently, investigators, acting under the procedural supervision of the Voznesensk district prosecutor’s office, handed down suspicions under Part 4 of Article 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — robbery committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, with the use of violence during martial law. After collecting evidence, the pre-trial investigation was completed and the materials were transferred to prosecutors, who sent the indictment to the court for trial on the merits.
In court, prosecutors proved the defendants’ guilt, after which the panel sentenced each to 7 years of imprisonment. The decision is not yet legally binding.
